KUALA LUMPUR: The monetary rewards kept coming in men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia and men's pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik for winning bronze at the Paris Olympics in August.
They received a total of RM250,000 from 100Plus today.
World No. 5 Zii Jia received RM100,000 while Aaron-Wooi Yik were to share RM150,000.
Professional Zii Jia, 26, said the incentive was a boost for shuttlers plying their trade as independent players.
"I was quite surprised with this incentive as we just got to know about it from the sponsors. It's also a motivation for professional players as the incentives are there from the sponsors as long as we continue producing results.
"It's quite an attractive deal as we have to play about three tournaments to get this amount (of money), but if we continue to work hard, the perks will come.
"I appreciate the support from 100Plus as they have been my sponsor since I was 19, and I hope this partnership will continue."
World No. 5 Aaron-Wooi Yik, who received RM60,000 in 2021 from 100Plus for winning bronze at the Tokyo Olympics, were pleasantly surprised to receive a bigger reward today.
This will be a big plus to the three shuttlers before they compete in the Arctic Open (Oct 8-13) in Finland and the Denmark Open (Oct 15-20) in Odense.
