KOTA BARU: All 41 assemblymen who attended the recent Kelantan State Assembly sitting have been advised to undergo self-quarantine.
Speaker Datuk Abdullah Ya'kub however, said the directive was not compulsory and it was only a precautionary measure.
He said this advice was after two of the assemblymen tested positive for Covid-19 while another was a close contact of a positive patient.
"So far, only three assemblymen were required to undergo home quarantine but others who feel that they need to are welcomed to do so," he told reporters after the launching of 'Kelantan Bersih 2021' by deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.
Abdullah said the hall was sanitised soon after the state assembly was informed about the three assemblymen.
It is learnt that several assemblymen including Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob have been undergoing home-quarantine since early this week.
The two Kelantan assemblymen who are undergoing home-quarantine after they tested positive for Covid-19 are Tanjong Mas (Rohani Ibrahim) and Tendong (Mohd Rozi Muhamad).
Another assemblyman from Kemuning, Mohd Roseli Ismail was also undergoing self-quarantine for being a close contact of a positive patient.
Following the detection of cases among the assemblymen, the Kelantan State Assembly sitting was adjourned two days earlier.
The sitting was adjourned at around 11am last Sunday to prevent the virus from spreading to others.
