Unscheduled water disruption to hit 472 areas in KL, Petaling and Hulu Langat

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 472 areas in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling and Hulu Langat will be hit by unscheduled water disruptions due to the ongoing floods.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said two water treatment plants had to be shut down and one is only operating partially due to increasing river water level.

In a statement today, Air Selangor said the affected treatment plants are the Langat 2, Sg Langat and Cheras Batu 11.

"There was an emergency power outage at the Semantan inlet that caused water supply disruptions at Langat 2, while there is an increase in water turbidity level resulting in Sg Langat producing only 40 per cent out of its usual daily production.

"The Cheras Batu 11 plant has to be shut down due to the floods."

Air Selangor said it had yet to determine when the treatment plants would resume operations.

"Consumers will get to access the list of affected areas on our website http://hentitugas.airselangor.com and Air Selangor mobile application."

It also said mobile water tankers could not be deployed at the moment due to the closure of main roads.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

"We will keep the consumers informed through all our official communication channels including Air Selangor mobile application, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages."

The public can also call the Air Selangor contact centre at 15300, or direct their inquiries and complaints to the Air Selangor help centre available at www.airselangor.com.
