SHAH ALAM: The floods have claimed another five lives, taking the death toll to 46 victims as of 4 am this morning.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said police received three more death reports in Pahang, and two in Kelantan.
To date, Selangor recorded 25 deaths, 18 in Pahang, and three in Kelantan.
"There are still five missing victims. We hope that they will be found soon," he said at a press conference at the Taman Sri Muda police control post here, today.
He added that the five who were still missing were all male victims in Pahang.
Meanwhile, Acryl said 54,532 flood victims were seeking shelter at 334 temporary evacuation centres in seven states in the peninsula.
Pahang reported the highest number of evacuees at 29,108, he said, followed by 23,302 victims in Selangor.
"Kelantan reported 974 evacuees, 238 in Kuala Lumpur, Negri Sembilan (292), Perak (107) and Melaka with 38," he added.
He also said 68 roads were still closed, including 45 in Pahang, 14 in Selangor, five in Negri Sembilan and three in Kelantan.
On river water levels, Acryl said three locations in Pahang had been categorised as "dangerous", four locations were at the "warning" level, and two locations were on the "alert" level.
In Selangor, rivers in two areas were on the alert level, with one at the warning level; while in Kelantan, two rivers were at the warning level.
