Ismail Sabri: Youths shouldn't use organisations, clubs as stage for politics or personal interests

KOTA BARU: Youths in the country are advised against using organisations or clubs as a stage for politics or for personal gain.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said they should grab the opportunity to use such platforms to provide beneficial input to the government so that it can help develop the country.

"The youth have always been close to me and therefore, it is the government's hope more proactive youth can provide their views in helping the government.

"The government will always listen to the views of all quarters, especially the youth, and will make sure to find ways to solve (their issues)," he said when launching the National Malaysian Association of Youth Clubs 60th annual dinner at a hotel here today.

Present were Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economic Affairs) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob and National MAYC president Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim.

Ismail Sabri said Malaysia has been tested with several disasters, from Covid-19 and later the floods which hit several states.

"I was really touched when I saw the youth volunteer and lend helping hands to those affected by the floods. This is the spirit of the Malaysian Family," he added.

To show that the government appreciated the role of youths, Ismail Sabri said those aged 18 are allowed to vote beginning early this year.

"So far, more than four million youth aged 18 and above have registered under Undi18.

"I hope youth organisations such as MAYC play their role by providing awareness to others on this important process of democracy," he added.

Meanwhile, Syahbuddin in his speech said MAYC would continue to give its support to Ismai Sabri.

"We will support Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri and hopefully, he will remain as prime minister until his tenure ends.

"I would also give my assurance that all the 668 youth chairmen in the country are ready to assist the government under Ismail Sabri's leadership," he added.

At the function, Ismail Sabri also announced a RM400,000 allocation to MAYC to help it organise and manage programmes for members.
