JELI: The Prime Minister's Department's Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) has identified 92 "projek sakit" (problematic projects) nationwide.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said 22 of the projects were under the Education Ministry.
He also said Sabah had the highest number of problematic projects at 16.
"Any project which progress has been delayed for more than two months is categorised as problematic. These projects are being monitored by the ICU.
"Among the arising problems involve contractors and consultants, as well as project implementation issues such as coordination between clients and third parties," he told reporters after launching the Chedok-Nibong by-pass in Bukit Bunga today.
He said the government took the issue seriously and urged the stakeholders to move in a planned and integrated manner to ensure the implementation of national development projects.
On the by-pass project, Mustapa said the RM34.4 million-project started in 2018 and was completed on Jan 31 this year.
"The 4.1km by-pass will be fully operational on Feb 15 and is expected to benefit many road users especially those heading to Penang and Kedah.
"The project will also help reduce the traffic congestion in Bukit Bunga particularly during long holidays."
