GEORGE TOWN: The Penang-Singapore Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) is expected to kick off in the middle of March.
State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said the authorities had agreed in principle to the Penang-Singapore VTL.
"I have been informed that the authorities have given the green light for the Penang-Singapore VTL. If nothing untoward happens, then it will kick off in the middle of this month," he said today.
He was met at the official launch of Pepsi Escape Challenge on the World's Longest Slide at Escape Penang.
Present were Sim Leisure Group founder and chief executive Sim Choo Kheng and Etika Sdn Bhd senior vice-president of sales Cedric Koh Ei Leon.
Yeoh said the Penang International Airport (PIA) had put in place all the necessary preparations for the launch of the Penang-Singapore VTL.
He had visited PIA on Monday to inspect the final stages and progress of its VTL preparations.
Then, he had said Malaysia Airports Sdn Bhd (MASB) had conducted the necessary spatial planning in PIA to ensure the smooth facilitation of the Penang-Singapore flights.
Meanwhile, Sim said after the World's Longest Slide, they were also planning to have the World's Longest ZipCoaster.
He said the company also planned to have the Escape Kuala Lumpur and Escape Johor Baru.
"We plan to have the Escape in all the major tourist places.
"Besides that, we also plan to build more mall version of the Escape, similar to the Escape Petaling Jaya, in other malls in the Klang Valley," he added.
