KUANTAN: Enjoy mouth-watering food along with a scenic view at the country's second highest tower, Kuantan 188.
Situated 98m above ground, the restaurant which will begin operations next month will not only offer an elevated dining experience but a 360-degree view of the city centre, Sungai Kuantan and the South China Sea.
This year, the highest restaurant in the east coast, boosting unobstructed views, will for the first time offer the "Berbuka Puasa Di Awan" package between April 7 and 28 during the fasting month of Ramadan.
Its managing director Datuk Zulkifli Mohamad said the restaurant located below the skydeck is expected to be a hit among those looking for a memorable spot to break fast during Ramadan.
"Apart from those living in Kuantan, we hope people from neighbouring states will travel here to visit and enjoy breaking fast at the high-altitude restaurant. Since it was opened on Dec 15 last year, we have recorded more than 50,000 visitors to Menara 188.
"Besides enjoying their buka puasa meals, guests will be taken through the augmented reality (AR) journey with 3D virtual images and themes such as sand desert, Aladdin's magic carpet, camel and spider. Guests can capture the images or record videos using their smartphones," he told reporters at Kuantan 188 yesterday.
Zulkifli said besides breaking fast, guests can perform their Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers at the deck below the restaurant.
"The prayer facilities on the lower deck will make it easier for guests as they will not be required to step out of the tower. Kuantan 188 will offer moreh (supper after performing Tarawih) packages with separate charges at the restaurant level," he said.
He said after Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the restaurant will operate daily offering a sushi bar, steamboat, coffee station and a variety of cakes, breads and desserts.
Zulkifli said the modern restaurant which has a maximum seating capacity of 120 persons offers a magnificent view of the city centre, Sungai Kuantan, mangrove forests and the ocean.
"From the glass windows at the restaurant, guests can witness colourful fishing vessels setting out to the South China Sea along Sungai Kuantan. This view is certainly one-of-its-kind." he said.
Kuantan 188, the new landmark in the state capital, is ranked second after Kuala Lumpur Tower (421m) which is the tallest tower in the country.
The tower was developed by the Federal government through the East Coast Economic Region Development Council before it was handed over to the Pahang government.
