KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued a strong wind, heavy rain and thunderstorm warning, effective today.
MetMalaysia forecast thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in the waters of Perlis, Kedah, Selangor, Pahang, West Sarawak and East Sabah until 1pm.
"This situation can cause strong winds up to 50 kmph and rough seas with waves reaching heights up to 3.5 metres, making it dangerous to small boats.
"For thunderstorm warnings, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in the waters of Phuket, Straits of Melaka, northeast of Samui, Sulu until 1pm," it said in a statement.
According to MetMalaysia, this situation can cause strong winds up to 50 kmph and rough seas with waves reaching heights of up to 3.5 metres.
