MERSING: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) has activated a search and rescue mission for four divers who are reported missing off Pulau Tokong Sanggol here.
Johor MMEA director First Admiral Nurul Hizam Zakaria said the Johor Baru Maritime Rescue Sub Centre received information from the Putrajaya Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre regarding the incident at 2.35pm.
"The incident involved four foreign divers who failed to return after undergoing a diving exercise at about noon today.
"The divers comprised a 14-year-old male, a 46-year-old British man, an 18-year-old French woman and a 35-year-old Norwegian woman.
"The divers were reported missing by the boat captain who took them out to sea," he said in a statement.
Nurul Hizam said a search and rescue mission was activated at 2.45pm involving assets from the MMEA, the Marine Operations Force and the Fisheries Department.
"A forward operating based has been set up at the Mersing District Council public jetty. As of 4pm, none of the divers have been found," he said.
