IPOH: Perak Menteri Besar today reiterated that he was not involved in the sale of land proposed for the development of an international airport in Seri Iskandar.
Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said as such, he believed he would not be summoned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to have his statement recorded.
"Not yet (to have his statement recorded). And I don't think so that the current state executive councillors (exco) were also involved.
"The land (proposed airport) belonged to the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP), and I believe the former PKNP chairman, (former) PKNP CEO, or (former) board of directors should be summoned by the MACC," he said.
Saarani told reporters this after attending a meet-the-people programme at the Indera Mulia Stadium here, today.
"I might be called up too but I am the current Menteri Besar and also the current PKNP chairman.
"We (Saarani and exco members) don't talk about this so much because once there is a report filed at MACC, the agency will take action. Let them do their job," he said.
Yesterday, Perak MACC director Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohamad said several individuals would be called to record their statements beginning this week to assist investigations.
On March 31, Saarani confirmed that a plot of land, previously identified as the location for a new international airport in Seri Iskandar, had been sold to a private company.
The Kota Tampan assemblyman said the sale of the land was conducted during the previous Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration.
