Petronas Go-To-Safety-Point programme launched ahead of Ops Selamat 18 [NSTTV]

KAJANG: Bukit Aman's Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department and Petronas Dagangan Bhd today launched the Go-To-Safety-Point (GTSP) programme ahead of Ops Selamat 18 this Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Petronas Dagangan Bhd retail business division head Khalil Jafri Muri said the GTSP provides a space for people to seek help in emergency situations.

"We aim to improve our services and ensure that new staff members are properly trained through the GTSP programme.

"Our crew members will be trained with the basic knowledge of handling first aid kits and contact related authorities such as police officers and ambulance in terms of crisis.

"It has been six years since this programme was implemented throughout 800 Petronas stations and we would like to further expand this programme in the near future," Khalil said at the launch of the programme's convoy today.

Present was Federal police Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department director Datuk Mat Kasim Karim.

Mat Kassim said the three-day Ops Selamat convoy with Petronas is aimed at creating safety awareness during the upcoming festival and as a reminder to all those who will 'balik kampung' after two long years.

"This three-days safety awareness exploration programme which started this morning is aimed at providing safety awareness to all road users ahead of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities."

The convoy will visit 47 Petronas stations in six zones. There are about 250 police officers and personnel from Bukit Aman and the local traffic division who will join Petronas workers to advocate safety tips.

He said officers from the Crime Prevention and Community Safety department were also involved in the programme.

Meanwhile Mat Kasim said Ops Selamat 18 will officially kick-off on April 26.

The zones involved in this safety awareness programme are Central (KL and Selangor), Northern (Kedah, Pulau Pinang and Kedah), Eastern (Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang), Southern (Johor, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan), Sabah (Kota Kinabalu, Papar and Penampang) and Sarawak (Kuching, Padawan and Kota Samarahan).
