MACHANG: A four-year-old girl was killed while two of her family members were seriously injured when their car was hit by a trailer lorry here last night.
Machang police chief Superintendent Mohamad Rusli Mat said the 7.30pm accident at KM54.1 of Jalan Kota Baru-Kuala Krai, involved a trailer lorry ferrying new vehicles and a car.
The victim, who suffered serious head and bodily injuries, died on the spot.
Mohamad Rusli said several new cars the trailer was transporting fell and landed on the road shoulder.
"Initial investigation showed that the driver of the trailer, travelling from Kuala Krai to Kota Baru, had lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer into the opposite lane and hit the oncoming car.
"The driver of the trailer escaped unhurt, but the car driver and one of her children were injured.
"The woman's other child died on the spot in the same incident," Rusli said, adding that the injured were sent to Kuala Krai hospital for treatment.
"The girl's body was sent to the same hospital for post-mortem," he added.
