Woman killed, husband injured after ice truck hits trailer

GOPENG: A woman was killed and her husband injured when an ice truck they were in collided with the back of a trailer on the Ipoh-Kampar road near Kampung Pulai today (Oct 12).

In the incident, Suhaili Abdul Razak, 28, died at the scene after being trapped in the passenger seat.

It is understood that the couple was on their way to deliver ice to a store.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said firefighters from the Gopeng Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene shortly after receiving a call at 5.15am.

He said the accident involved a one-tonne ice truck, which collided with the rear of the trailer.

"The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while her husband, who was the driver, suffered minor injuries. The trailer driver was unharmed.

"The body was extricated using rescue equipment and handed over to the police for further action, while the injured victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance," he said in a statement today.
