KUALA LUMPUR: Parts of the nation's capital are once again hit by flash floods following rain since this morning.
Among the locations affected are Jalan Ipoh which has since been temporary closed from Bulatan Pahang towards Jalan Ipoh.
Other roads inundated by floodwaters are Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah from Jalan Ipoh, Jalam Imbi heading towards Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Ampang, Jalan Kampar off Jalan Sentul, Bulatan Dato, Kampung Periuk, Jalan Duta Mas, Jalan Ampang and Jalan Dang Wangi.
These roads are still accessible and the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation Enforcement Department (JSPT) as well as the City Hall (DBKL) are actively monitoring the areas.
Kuala Lumpur JSPT chief Assistant Commissioner Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said 60 officers and personnel have been deployed to the locations.
"Along Jalan Ampang near KLCC, clogged drains resulted in flash floods which lasted for 30 minutes," he said.
JSPT officers and DBKL personnel had worked to locate the clogged sections to ensure water could flow smoothly, he informed.
A similar situation was reported along Jalan Dang Wangi where clogged drains resulted in water reaching 0.6-metre high.
As of 1pm, it was reported that floodwaters had begun to recede and the situation was under control.
