17,091 complaints received via WFW apps

KUBANG PASU: The Human Resources Ministry received 17,091 complaints from workers via the 'Working For Workers' (WFW) mobile application up to yesterday (Monday).

Its deputy minister Datuk Awang Hashim said of the total, 5,928 complaints involved unpaid salaries and late salary payments.

"For other cases, 18 per cent or 2,974 complaints were of employers not allowing workers to work from home during the Movement Control Order.

"We also received 1,651 complaints over salary cuts that went against the law," he said after presenting certificates at the 25th Human Resources Department Training Institute convocation here today.

Awang also said 1,390 complaints were of unlawful dismissal while another 1,369 complaints were of unpaid overtime and retrenchment benefits.

He added that action had been taken on the 16,562 complaints while the rest were still under investigation.

The WFW was launched in May last year as the platform for 15.7 million workers including foreign workers to lodge complaints regarding employment.
