KUALA LUMPUR: As of Sept 30, the Works Ministry's MyJalan application has received 20,042 reports about issues with roads since its launch in August last year.
Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said of the total, 6,019 reports, or 30 per cent, fall under the supervision of the ministry and its agencies, involving federal and state roads.
The remaining 14,023 reports are not under the ministry's jurisdiction but that of the state governments and local councils.
"The ministry and its agencies have resolved 5,738 complaints, accounting for 95.33 per cent of the reports received under its jurisdiction, while the remaining 281 reports, or 4.67 per cent are still being addressed.
"The category with the highest number of complaints is potholes, comprising 39.57 per cent (2,382), followed by damaged roads at 18.06 per cent (1,087), streetlights at 16.35 per cent (984), and traffic lights at 10.53 per cent (634).
"The remaining 15.49 per cent (932) fall under other categories," he said in response to Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah (PN-Langkawi).
Suhaimi had asked about the statistics on complaints of road damages received and resolved through the MyJalan application as of last month and the status of the progress of the zero potholes policy in ensuring that all road patching works are carried out smoothly according to the specifications set by the Public Works Department.
As for reports not under the ministry's jurisdiction, Nanta said in line with the "No Wrong Door Policy (NWD)", the reports were forwarded to the relevant departments.
"The ministry will continue to implement various programmes and engagement sessions with stakeholders to ensure that every complaint is addressed effectively for the well-being of the people."
Meanwhile, Nanta said the pothole monitoring application system recorded a total of 2,990 potholes repaired through routine patching along the federal roads of Peninsular Malaysia, while in Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan the number stood at 38,039.
"The ministry, through the Public Works Department, remains committed to ensuring that roads are always safe and comfortable by carrying out routine maintenance throughout the year."
