Sabah's 'SkyBridge to nowhere' hits a dead end

KOTA KINABALU: A controversial portion of the city's Skybridge that leads to nowhere will now be removed.

Last year, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor launched the RM31.5 million project that connects several malls and commercial hubs in the city.

The 400m bridge was part of the city's SkyBridge Pedestrian Linkages and Traffic Improvement Works project.

The SkyBridge is also equipped with 20 air-conditioned retail kiosks, escalators and elevators for people with disabilities. It has also resulted in the upgrading of several infrastructures nearby.

However, it was criticised when one section appeared to meet a dead end with no way out except to turn back.

The Centre Point Shopping Mall, in a statement, said the link to the premises was expected to be completed by November this year at a cost of RM700,000.
