Two children die in landslide

KOTA KINABALU Two children died and two others were injured in a landslide at Jalan Bukit Nenas, here, last night.

The victims Isa Sabri, 2, and Norain Jaziz, 11, were confirmed dead at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE).

Another victim, Siti Nur, 28, broke her arm and her husband Sabri Botong, also 28, suffered minor leg injuries.

Sabah Fire and Rescue department spokesman said they received a call at 8.26pm yesterday.

There were 24 personnel from the Lintas and Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Stations (BBP) along with machinery and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) deployed to the scene.

"On arrival, it was found that a landslide had hit a house of nine people.

"There are four victims involved, one of them injured his leg while the other three were buried," he said in a media statement.

The spokesperson said a two-year-old boy was rescued and sent to the hospital before the fire brigade arrived at the scene.

"Two other female victims including a child who were buried were successfully pulled out by firemen and the public.

"They were given initial treatment and then sent to the hospital using EMRS and an ambulance.

"The two children were confirmed dead at the hospital while the other two injured victims are now receiving treatment," he said.
