CCID appoints 104 ambassadors for anti-scam campaign

KUALA LUMPUR: The Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) has appointed 104 key opinion leaders (KOLs) as ambassadors for its anti-scam campaign.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the ambassadors comprised artistes, entrepreneurs, influencers, police officers and athletes.

"These KOLs will raise awareness of scam syndicates in the country. They were chosen for their huge following, making it easier to approach the public and share any information on scam tactics.

"They will play their part in ways they see fit. An awareness message will be created so members of the public can stay alert through these figures' social media accounts."

Acryl Sani told the people to be aware of scam elements.

"Hijacked accounts, phone calls, and cyber love scams are the classic methods used.

"We must ensure that people are equipped with proper knowledge so that they won't panic when faced with scammers," he said at the Anti-Scam Ambassador Appointment ceremony.

The campaign is a partnership with Multimedia Creative Solutions Sdn Bhd (MCS).

About 76 KOL have been selected by CCID and 28 others are under the patronage of MCS.

Some of the KOLs present were Datuk Lee Chong Wei, Lee Zii Jia, Hazama, Khai Bahar, Nabila Razali, Diana Danielle and Ahmad Azhar Othman, better known as Awie.
