KUALA LUMPUR: Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kempadang, in Kuantan, Pahang, has been nominated as one of three finalists for the World's Best School Award, with a cash prize of US$50,000 (RM228,925).
The school was listed in the innovation category, in the awards organised by T4 Education in collaboration with Yayasan Hasanah, Accenture and American Express, after coming up with a fully digital solution system to track student progress known as SNARTZOOM.
iT tracks student learning progress, using data input from Google Sheets and Google Chrome because all teachers in Malaysia have a dedicated Google account linked to the Education ministry.
Trustee and Managing Director of Yayasan Hasanah Datuk Shahira Ahmed Bazari said the excellence achieved by the school will be an inspiration to educators around the world.
"It is continuous proof that our public schools can be among the best in the world.
"We are pleased to work with T4 Education by supporting the organisation of this award, which recognises and encourages from 'bottom-up' transformation and creates a global community that learns from each other and which creates a wave of positive impact on students around the world," she said in a statement.
The top three finalists for each category of the 'World's Best School' Prizes will now enter the public voting stage and members of the public are given until Oct 2 to vote for the winner at the worldsbestschool.org link.
The winner will be announced on Oct 19.
