KUALA LUMPUR: Although the 2023 Budget is touted to be the largest-ever national budget to date, the allocation is much lower than what the government has spent for 2022.
PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said the RM372.3 billion earmarked for next year was a far cry from the RM385 billion spent by the government for this year.
"Though many people are calling this an election budget, it is smaller than the 2022 national expenditure.
"So, one wonders whether the 2023 Budget could lead to multiplier effects since the RM385 billion spent in 2022 has only produced 'lukewarm' results," he said, during the 2023 Budget discussion on TV3, today.
