IPOH: "Now is not the right time (to give any comment). Wait for nomination day and I will hold a press conference."
These were the words of Khairul Azwan Harun, better known as 'Azwanbro' when approached by the media on his candidacy for the Pasir Salak parliament seat.
The Pasir Salak Umno division deputy chairman will replace incumbent Pasir Salak member of parliament (MP), Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman who has been axed by the party.
Khairul Azwan described the situation as quite 'volatile' in Pasir Salak for Umno, preventing him from making any statement regarding his position as a Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the said parliamentary seat.
Tajuddin, who is also the Pasir Salak Umno division chief, has been a Pasir Salak MP for the past three terms since 2008 and was a Kampung Gajah state assemblyman for one term from 2004 to 2008.
Tajuddin, who is also a former member of the Umno Supreme Council is one of the 'big names' dropped by BN in this general election.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said those whose names had been dropped by the party should refrain from expressing their disappointment over such decisions.
"The seat belongs to the party, not to me or any of us," he said.
Besides Tajuddin, BN has axed Kuala Kangsar's incumbent member of parliament Datuk Mastura Mohd Yazid.
Mastura has been dropped in favour of Maslin Sham Razman.
