BENTONG: The incumbent Ketari assemblyman Young Syefura Othman believes there is a potential for growth in the Bentong's tourism sector, and that will be one of her main motives once she wins the parliamentary seat.
She said that Bentong had a number of tourism spots and activities including agricultural activities which could attract the people to spend here.
However, it was not widely promoted to attract people, she said.
"Not even a shopping mall is available for our youngsters.
"In the next five years, if given the mandate, I want to bring change for the ease of the people here, especially the youngsters, women and kids," she said after filing her nomination for Bentong parliamentary constituency at Dewan Jubilee Perak, Majlis Perbandaran Bentong today.
She also said that the previous local MPs also did not make any major developments as Bentong remained largely unchanged.
She also said that there needed to be a major facelift with proper roads and street lights for the betterment of road users.
Young Shefura is facing a five-cornered fight to win the Bentong seat.
The other candidates are incumbent Wong Tack who will fight as an independent, Barisan Nasional's former minister Tan Sri Liow Tiong Lai, Perikatan Nasional candidate Datuk Roslan Hassan and independent candidate Mohd Khalil Abdul Hamid.
