KUALA LUMPUR: Former deputy prime minister Tun Musa Hitam's daughter, Mariana Musa, died yesterday.
The news of Mariana's death was shared by Marina Mahathir, a friend of Mariana, on Facebook.
"Last night, I lost a dear friend. Not many people know that Ana (Mariana) and I have been friends since we were children when her parents brought her and her siblings to stay with us in Alor Star.
"My deepest condolences to Tun Musa and Toh Puan Ika (Toh Puan Zulaikha Sheardin), Puan Ines Maria Reyna, Rosana Musa and the entire family," she said.
In her post on Facebook, Marina said both of them had worked in Balai Berita in the early 1980s, where she was stationed at the New Straits Times and Mariana at the Her World magazine.
She added that she last saw Mariana in 2019, fulfilling her promise to visit Mariana in Oxford when the latter was living there.
"Dearest Ana, thank you always for the friendship. I shall miss you, but now you will be with Carlos again," she said.
Mariana was the second of Musa's three children.
Musa's eldest son Carlos Abdul Rashid and daughter-in-law Rosina Abu Bakar died in the 1993 Highland Towers incident.
