SHAH ALAM: Selangor has offered 20 Smart Selangor buses from tomorrow to help thousands of users affected by the disruption in LRT services on the Kelana Jaya line.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the matter will be discussed by the state's Local Government, Public Transport and New Village Development Standing Committee chairman Ng Sze Han together with RapidKL today.
"The state government is saddened by the disruption of the LRT system on the Kelana Jaya route yesterday which caused 16 stations to be closed.
"Thus, the state government is ready to provide 20 units of Smart Selangor buses from tomorrow. RapidKL will need to coordinate the routes as we do not want any overlapping of services,' he said in a special press conference here today.
Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah had announced yesterday the disruption of services at 16 stations on the Kelana Jaya line following the malfunction of its Automatic Train Control System (ATC)
At the special press conference, Amirudin also said that the Public Health Committee and the Selangor Public Health Advisory Council (SELPHAC) will start the Selangor Influenza Vaccine - Pneumococcal campaign with 10,000 doses of the vaccine for free to those identified as being at high risk with an allocation of RM1.5 million.
He said that the programme will start on November 14 and will continue until December 31 by focusing on nursing homes for the elderly, the elderly and Iltizam Selangor Sihat (ISS) card holders for the first phase of the programme.
"This programme will be implemented through two methods, namely Selvax Mobile Team and Selcare clinics.
"This decision was taken after taking into account the statistics of respiratory infections that have increased and the risk on people in Selangor, especially the elderly," he said.
