KOTA BARU: The caretake environment and water minister Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said he is ready to be investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) regarding the allegation on a flood mitigation project contract worth RM2 billion.
He said he has nothing to hide, adding that the allegations by PKR Deputy President Rafizi Ramli were slanderous against him.
"If the MACC calls me to give evidence in the morning, I will go immediately. No delay. I don't have a problem (to do so). I will cooperate because there is nothing to hide or conceal.
"Rafizi is going for the extreme especially as this is a season (15th General Election) of slander," he said when met after the investiture ceremony in conjunction with the 53rd birthday of the Sultan of Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V at Istana Balai Besar here today.
Tuan Ibrahim said that the said project exposed by Rafizi had just been approved by the Ministry of Finance.
"However, the acceptance letter had not been issued and no company can claim that it owns the project," he said.
Media reports quoted Rafizi as claiming that Tuan Ibrahim's ministry was in the process of awarding a flood mitigation project worth RM2 billion through direct negotiations to a company owned by an individual said to be related to UMNO leaders.
Rafizi said he was informed by a source in the government that the effort to immediately approve the project under the administration of the interim government was in return after receiving funds to be used throughout the 15th General Election (GE15).
