Abidin well received by Sungai Bakap voters, says Tuan Ibrahim

NIBONG TEBAL:Sungai Bakap voters have responded positively to Perikatan Nasional's candidate Abidin Ismail, says Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

He said this was based on ground research and the election machinery's meetings with all segments of voters.

"This is an encouraging sign. We hope this will be translated into votes during polling day.

"We also call on the people to come out to vote on July 6," he said in PN's Ceramah Mega for the Sungai Bakap by-election here late last night.

Tuan Ibrahim also defended Abidin's candidacy, saying it was done after a stringent process.

He said they looked at many criteria and Abidin fit the bill.

"We want a leader who not merely listens to the people's problems but find ways to resolve them.

"We do not look only at the candidate being a 'winnable' candidate but he must be able to carry out his job.

"As such, we hope voters will give him a chance to prove himself," he added.

Meanwhile, Abidin said he had received positive feedback from voters from all races.

"Insya Allah, we will win this by-election.

"For now, our election machinery has reached out to more than 80 per cent of voters. I, personally, have completed more than 50 per cent of house-to-house visits," he said.

Abidin had came under attack for his academic credentials even before campaigning started.

This was after Tuan Ibrahim, when announcing his candidacy, said he possessed an ISO certification.
