Japan ambassador congratulates Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: The Japan embassy congratulated Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his recent appointment as the 10th prime minister yesterday.

Ambassador Takahashi Katsuhiko, in a tweet, wishes that the ties between both countries will continue to strengthen for further collaborations.

"Congratulations to YB Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim @anwaribrahim, who has been sworn in as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia.

"I sincerely hope that the new government will lead Malaysia in unity and further promote the Japan-Malaysia relations," he said.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been sworn in as the country's 10th prime minister yesterday.

He took his oath before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, at 5 pm, ending his over two-decade wait to be appointed to the country's top post.
