Perlis swears in 6 executive councillors

ARAU: Six Perlis Perikatan Nasional assemblymen — two from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and four from Pas — were sworn in as state executive councillors today.

They received their appointment letters from the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, at Istana Arau.

Present were Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli, State Secretary Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad, Perlis Mufti Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, Perlis legal adviser Mohd Radhi Abas and state Speaker Datuk Hamdan Bahari.

Bersatu's two assemblymen are Titi Tinggi's Izizam Ibrahim and Pauh's Megat Hashirat Hassan.

The four Pas assemblymen are Razali Saad of Simpang Empat, Fakhrul Anwar of Bintong, Azmir Azizan of Santan and Wan Badariah Wan Saad of Mata Ayer.

PN formed the state government and ended 65 years of Barisan Nasional rule in Perlis after winning 14 out of 15 state seats during the 15th General Election last Saturday.

PN also won all three parliamentary seats of Padang Besar, Kangar and Arau.

On Tuesday, Sanglang assemblyman Shukri, who is also Perlis PN chairman and state Pas commissioner, took his oath as the state's eighth menteri besar.
