PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has denied claims that RM620 billion in government expenditure was not recorded by the Treasury between 2020 and this year.
He said the accusation, involving stimulus packages by the government, was untrue and pointed out that all government expenditure has been recorded in financial statements.
"The total value of eight stimulus packages amounted to RM530 billion, most of which did not involve government expenditure.
"The government's direct expenditure was only RM110 billion and that allocation had been approved unanimously by Parliament," he said in several Twitter postings today.
Ismail was referring to a tweet by Yusoff Bachek @mohayusba, who alleged that RM620 billion was not recorded in government financial statements during the Covid-19 pandemic.
