KUALA LUMPUR: Transport Minister Anthony Loke's official first day at work saw him taking a ride on Rapid KL's Light Rail Transit (LRT) to feel for himself how packed the trains were during the after-work peak hour.
Loke, who spent two hours on the Kelana Jaya LRT line from 5pm, said it was undoubtedly crowded and uncomfortable for commuters.
Loke said he did not want to inform the top management of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad and the media of his surprise check as he wanted to delve into the passengers daily commuting experience.
"I understand the inconvenience faced by the LRT commuters.
"I will hold a meeting with Prasarana's top management this week to discuss the direction and ways to improve our public transportation system," he wrote on his Facebook page.
His post were accompanied with several pictures, some of which were him in a congested train coach and walking past a default escalator.
