BATANG KALI: The death toll from the landslide at Father's Organic Farm campsite here has risen to 24 with the discovery of another body.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the search and rescue (SAR) team found the remains of a girl at Sector A of the campsite.
The victim's body has been transferred to Sungai Buloh Hospital for a post-mortem and identification by her next-of-kin.
Efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue another nine missing victims.
Concurrently, the Selangor police have also launched investigations into the campsite owner who did not have a licence to run the business. The premises had only been licensed for organic farming.
"I have instructed the Selangor officer-in-charge of Criminal Investigations (OCCI) to lead the investigations while the SAR team carries on with the rescue missions," he told reporters attending a briefing at the landslide site today.
In addition, Acryl promised to keep reporters updated on the latest developments of the SAR mission.
Earlier today, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Norazam Khamis said the SAR team had combed through 40 per cent of the landslide area.
However, he admitted that the odds were "very slim" for them to find more survivors.
