JOHOR BARU: A married couple are being held over the death of a girl, 2, who fell to her death from the 16th floor of an apartment in Taman Daya on Tuesday.
Johor Baru Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said police received an emergency call at 9.16pm about the incident.
He said the couple, aged 56 and 78, and who are relatives of the girl, realised her disappearance at 8.50pm.
Raub said that before the incident, the family members had just finished recreational activities at the apartment's pool.
"While waiting for the girl's mother and other family members, who had gone to the laundry room on the seventh floor, the two suspects took the girl back to the apartment on the 16th floor.
"At the apartment, the two suspects left the girl alone while they went to perform their prayers.
"After finishing their prayers, the two suspects couldn't find the girl in the apartment. They looked around for her and discovered her body on the eighth floor of the building."
Raub said the girl was taken to Sultan Ismail Hospital for a post-mortem.
