SETIU: Terengganu recorded the most number of flood victims in the country with 37,792 people from 10,401 families displaced from their homes.
As of 8am today, the victims are seeking shelter at 310 Temporary Flood Relief and Evacuation Centres (PPS) in the East Coast state.
The number of victims shows a stark increase, compared to 29,717 people from 8,214 families at 291 PPS last night (Dec 19).
Based on the report issued by the Terengganu state Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, Kemaman had the highest number of flood victims with 12,000 people from 3,094 families placed at 37 PPS.
This is followed by Besut with 8,228 people housed at 92 PPS while in Hulu Terengganu there are 6,691 people seeking shelter at 61 PPS.
In Setiu, there are 3,988 flood victims from 1,196 families that were moved to 56 PPS, while in Dungun, 2,484 people from 659 families were evacuated to 36 PPS.
The state capital of Kuala Terengganu saw 10 PPS opened to accommodate 1,900 flood victims, as Kuala Nerus saw 1,521 people seeking shelter at 10 PPS as well.
Marang, recorded the lowest number of flood victims in the state with 980 victims from 231 families housed at eight PPS.
