8 more relief centres closed as flood situation in Kedah improves

ALOR STAR: Flood conditions in the state continue to improve, with eight temporary flood relief centres (PPS) across four districts closed by 4pm today.

In Kota Setar, six PPS were shut down, while one each closed in Pokok Sena and Kubang Pasu, leaving 22 centres still operational.

According to the Kedah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, the total number of evacuees statewide has dropped to 2,921 from 916 families, a decrease from 4,111 evacuees from 1,324 families earlier this morning.

In Kota Setar, 1,623 evacuees from 518 families remain in 10 PPS, down from 2,664 evacuees from 874 families.

In Pendang, the number of evacuees has fallen to 1,160 from 349 families in 10 PPS, compared to 1,230 evacuees from 379 families previously.

In Kubang Pasu, 82 evacuees from 27 families remain in one PPS, down from 153 evacuees from 46 families earlier.

In Pokok Sena, 56 evacuees from 22 families remain in one PPS, down from 64 evacuees from 25 families.
