Batang Kali SAR member rushed to hospital

BATANG KALI: A member of the search and rescue (SAR) team at the Batang Kali landslide was rushed to the Selayang Hospital today.

Selangor Civil Defence Force (APM) in a statement said (Private (PA)) Muhammad Faiq Haikhal Mohd Jeffry passed out at about 1pm due to scorching hot weather, as well as from lack of food and dehydration.

Faiq Haikhal was part of the SAR team that has been working tirelessly at the Batang Kali landslide disaster area.

Meanwhile, as of 2pm, there have been no positive signs on the retrieval of the sole victim still missing after the SAR resumed at 8am this morning.

The sole victim still unaccounted for in the landslide tragedy at the Farmer's Organic Farm campsite has been identified as Eng Shao Qi, a Year 5 student from SJKC Mun Choong.

Earlier today, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Norazam Khamis in a statement said today's operation will focus on Sector A (Hillview).

The operation, spearheaded by the Fire and Rescue Department, sees the presence of 80 personnel from the Armed Forces, Civil Defence Force, Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance (APM), and Rescue Team (SMART) entering the Red Zone area.

The deadly landslide tragedy has so far seen 61 survivors and 30 dead, out of a total of 92 victims reported being involved in the incident.
