JOHOR BARU: Six-year-old Albertine Leo Jia Hui has been found safe in Batang Kali.
Johor police chief Commissioner M. Kumar confirmed at a press conference today that the child had been found at a hotel there.
He said a 31-year-old suspect was arrested at a hotel at 4am this morning.
"The suspect was found with the victim at a hotel in Batang Kali, Kuala Kubu Baru, and was subsequently arrested.
"The suspect also had no connection or relationship with the victim. He will be brought back to Johor for further investigation.
"The victim is now safe," Kumar said.
He added that the victim was taken to the hospital for a medical check-up, with results pending.
Kumar said the arrest was made based on public information as well as police intelligence.
The vehicle used by the suspect to abduct the victim has also been seized.
The case is being investigated under Section 365 of the Penal Code and Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act.
Yesterday, Johor police arrested three suspects at around 1.30pm around Gelang Patah, Iskandar Puteri.
Leo went missing at about 8.30pm on Saturday while at the Eco Galleria business centre, Iskandar Puteri near here.
Last night, Kumar said the three suspects, aged between 28 and 55, were arrested in Iskandar Puteri, Gelang Patah, Johor to assist in the investigation.
He said in a statement said police have also reclassified the case under Section 365 of the Penal Code for kidnapping or abduction with intent to secretly and wrongfully confine a person.
The three suspects have been remanded for four days to facilitate investigations.
