'Dearest teacher... I hope you are resting peacefully in heaven'

KUALA LUMPUR: "To dearest Teacher Liu Pei Si, I hope you are peacefully resting in heaven with the protection of God. I wish(ed) that you could have enjoyed many Christmas' and New Year(s). You taught us many (a lot of) knowledge. You will be missed."

Accompanied with handrawn emojis of crying faces and a flower, that was the handwritten message by SJKC Mun Choong pupil named Nabil Danish of Class 4M for Liu.

Another student Aischa Luna Rose of Class 3N wrote: "Why did you have to leave us so early? Your kindness and many presents you gave me, your nasihat (advice) and all the knowledge.

"We are very sad (with) the way you departed. We (will) always love you, Liu Lao She (teacher). Salam sayang selalu."

A parent of Class 5C pupil named Yau Wen Hui wrote: "The school is silent tonight. Taman Kok Lian is silent tonight. The land is silent tonight. In your silence, I wept. Silence is cruel."

These were the messages pasted at the pictorial exhibition section of the school's main assembly hall, where a memorial for 11 victims from the school who died in the Dec 16 Batang Kali landslide is being held today.

More than 600 people made up of pupils, teachers, parents and members of the Parent-Teacher Association are now gathered at the school.
