RapidKL extends LRT peak periods starting tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: RapidKL will increase interval times for rail services on its Ampang-Sri Petaling Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Kuala Lumpur Monorail lines starting tomorrow following the disruption caused by structural damage at the Bandaraya LRT station.

In a statement today, it said passengers on the Ampang-Sri Petaling line can expect five-minute intervals for central business district (CBD) stops and 10-minute intervals for non-CBD stops on weekdays during peak hours.

"Passengers can expect six-minute intervals for CBD stops and 12-minutes for non-CBD stops on weekdays during non-peak hours, weekends, and public holidays.

"Meanwhile, KL Monorail passengers can expect seven-minute intervals during peak hours; 10-minute intervals during non-peak hours and 12-minute intervals on weekends."

RapidKL said the morning peak hour will be extended from 6.30am to 10.30am compared to 7am to 9.30am previously.

Meanwhile, the evening peak hour will be extended from 4.30pm to 8.30pm compared to 5pm to 7.30pm.

"The peak hour extension is to allow passengers to plan their journey ahead and to reduce congestion at several stations, particularly at interchange stations at Masjid Jamek and Hang Tuah.

It added that nine feeder buses will be added at the Masjid Jamek LRT station; 10 at Sentul Timur and another 15 at Hang Tuah station.

At the same time, 100 personnel will be placed at the stations to control traffic flow and assist passengers to their destinations.
