KUALA LUMPUR: The KLCC LRT station, which was temporarily closed after a fire broke out in its electronics equipment room, resumed operation at 5.52pm today.
Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd (Rapid Rail) said the station is now in operation, with passengers allowed inside in stages.
"Passengers are allowed to enter in stages, and their movement is monitored closely by station personnel.
"This is to prevent any congestion in the station and platforms," said the company in a statement tonight.
Rapid Rail said the 3.51pm incident saw a small fire break out, causing damage to the station's air conditioning monitoring panel located in the air conditioning room.
"Station personnel at the scene managed to control and put out the small fire.
"Firemen arrived at 4.24pm to investigate the cause of the fire and ensure that the station is safe for passengers," it said.
Rapid Rail said, to ensure the smooth flow of passenger traffic, free shuttle bus services are provided to nearby stations, namely the Dang Wangi station (bus stop in front of Decathlon KL City Centre) and the Ampang Park station (bus stop in front of Avenue K).
"Alternatively, passengers can also board the train along the Kelana Jaya Line from the Ampang Park and Kampung Baru stations; Putrajaya Line from the Ampang Park station and Persiaran KLCC, and the KL Monorail from the Bukit Nanas station to continue their journey.
"Rapid Rail apologises to all passengers who were affected throughout the incident and will extend our full cooperation to the authorities to conduct further investigation."
