JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Johor recorded an upward trend when another 151 people were relocated to temporary relief centres.
This brings the number of flood victims to 32,870 people from 9,288 families as of 4pm today.
State secretary Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani said there were now 219 temporary relief centres operating in all 10 districts statewide following floods.
Azmi, who is the state Disaster Management Committee chairman, said Segamat was the district with the highest number of evacuees with 12,258 people from 3,511 families being housed at 78 relief centres.
"Kluang also showed an increase in the number of evacuees from 5,178 to 5,251 people evacuated to 39 relief centres.
"The third most affected district is Batu Pahat where the number of those seeking shelter at 25 relief centres have increased to 4,491 people," he said in a statement today.
As of noon, a total of 20 relief centres in Kota Tinggi are still providing shelter to 3,431 evacuees.
There are a total of 38 relief centres in Muar and Tangkak housing 5,036 evacuees.
Azmi said Mersing also saw a rise in the number of evacuees with 768 people relocated at eight relief centres.
"The number of evacuees relocated in Johor Baru remain unchanged with 1,218 people at six relief centres.
"The flood situation in Kulai showed signs of abating after the number of evacuees went down from 471 people to 53," he said.
