KUALA LUMPUR: Throwing rubbish by the roadside is littering, and for the litterbug to think that no one would notice such a deplorable act makes it even more disappointing.
Such a case of littering by the roadside happened recently in Hulu Langat and it was recorded by the street recorder.
Upon seeing such a despicable act, Dusun Tua assemblyman Edry Faizal Eddy Yusof decided to personally teach the litterbug a lesson not to do so anymore.
The litterbug was driving a Proton Wira when he threw the rubbish by the roadside.
Through Edry Faizal's contacts, he managed to track the culprit down and headed to the latter's home with the man's rubbish bags.
"We took the bags of rubbish thrown by the roadside and we went to return them to him," he said in a video posted on TikTok recently.
Upon reaching the litterbug's house, Edry Faizal called out for the person, however he was out of the house at the time.
Then he calmly advised the house's other occupants to remind the man not to throw rubbish by the roadside anymore.
"I have brought the rubbish back with me, but it is ok.
"Please tell him not to litter, and to throw rubbish in the rubbish bin. Send my regards to him," he said.
Netizens were in awe and praised him for the manner in which he handled the matter.
He explained that the man who committed the act of littering was a senior citizen about the same age as his own parents.
"So I treat them like how I treat my parents. May all our hearts open up to taking good care of cleanliness in and around where we live," he said.
The video has garnered 459,400 views as of 11am today.
