KUALA LUMPUR: Homeowners renting out their properties hope for dependable tenants, but some unfortunately end up with a "tenant from hell".
Such was the case in a video posted by Che Zaiton Isa on TikTok, the home owner is heard lamenting the damage done by his tenant.
As he moves from room to room, he sounds obviously exasperated.
The video shows rubbish strewn in every nook and cranny of the house, even on top of mattresses.
"Everything in the house is ruined. I don't know what they (the tenant) were doing. This tenant is bad. It is all just trash, it is so bad. I can't believe I have a tenant like this.
"I will just lock it (the house) up and get someone to clean it up… get the tenant to leave. It is really terrible," he said in the video.
The video has amassed over 274,000 views, 7,016 likes and 1,711 comments, with viewers expressing shock and questioning how anyone could live in such conditions.
TikTok user @kaknienoor asked: "Is it a human or a jinn living in the house?"
Meanwhile, another user @nashrye_248 commented wondered if it was a house or a dump site.
User @norazwaliza said: "How could someone live with such a pile of trash?"
Meanwhile, others shared their experiences with similar tenants.
User @yulialwi73 recounted that she once had a tenant who broke and removed four doors.
"They also did not pay rent, electricity or water bills. When I told them to leave, they refused. It was only when I obtained a lawyer's letter that they finally moved out," she said.
Another user, @hamidahyusof, said she and her children spent almost a week cleaning a house in similar condition.
"I have been through this before. It took us nearly a week to clean the house and our neighbours watched us as we were cleaning them. Only God knows how we felt during that time," she said.
