IPOH: In conjunction with the National Journalist Day (Hawana) 2023, Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah has consented for three media practitioners to deliver Friday's sermon tomorrow.

The selected media practitioners are Berita Harian editor (Feature, Religious and Literature) Mohd Nazmi Yaacob, Sinar Harian reporter Saifullah Ahmad and Radio Television Malaysia programme producer, Mohd Fahmi Mohd Nor.

Mohd Nazmi will deliver the Friday sermon at Masjid Sultan Idris Shah II (Masjid Negeri Perak Ipoh) while Saifullah (Masjid Sultan Azlan Shah) and Mohd Fahmi (Masjid Muhibbuddin Shah).

Perak Islamic Religious Council and Malay Customs (MAIPk) president Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini, in a statement, said Hawana would be celebrated here from May 27 until 28.

Mohd Annuar said the journalists were chosen this time to recognise their role and they would deliver the Friday Sermon tomorrow with the theme Journalism: Accomplishing Tasks Based on Islamic Values.

"His Majesty also allowed media practitioners to be given the opportunity and honour of reading the Friday Sermon in mosques in Perak on May 26.

"Following this, the state Broadcasting Department and the Perak Association of Media Practitioners (PPMP) have submitted three names to the state Islamic Religion Department director to be certified to read sermons at three mosques in the state," he said.
