KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor police confirmed receiving a report regarding Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing's presence at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) yesterday.
State police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the report was lodged by a member of the public who requested an investigation into the incident.
"Action is being taken by the police and we have not yet classified the investigation papers that will be opened later," he said.
It was reported that the incident at the KLIA Terminal 1 Arrival Hall went viral when a minister was alleged to have entered the immigration counters at the airport to 'rescue' a Chinese national who was detained upon entering the country.
Tiong confirmed that he was the minister involved but denied the allegation that he tried to release the visitor.
He said his visit was carried out to expose corrupt activities at the country's main gateway.
