SEBERANG JAYA: Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has thrown yet another challenge at caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
Speaking at the Jelajah Perpaduan Madani and launch of the Perpaduan machinery here late last night, Saifuddin asked Sanusi to reveal the identity of a Chinese national, who possessed the Professional Visit Pass, otherwise known as the Pas Lawatan Ikhtisas (PLIK), who worked with the Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) and was detained by the authorities in Baling in January over the theft of rare earth minerals
"Let him (Sanusi) answer this. Can Sanusi confirm that the man possessed a PLIK and had served with the MBI?
"Can he also confirm that the man was detained in the forest reserve and the reason for his arrest?" he asked.
Saifuddin, who is also Pakatan Harapan (PH) secretary-general, also asked Sanusi to explain why the chief executive officer (CEO) of MBI, who together with a group of Chinese nationals, had set up a company registered in Malaysia despite them entering the country using social visit passes.
"If they had entered using social visit passes, and subsequently became the director of the company, of which the CEO of MBI was part of it and the foreign nationals worked here, I want Sanusi to list down how many people which he had given his blessings to.
"I am saying this so that he (Sanusi) does not wash his hands off this. When talking about the rare earth minerals theft in the state, he said the state government was not involved, MBI was not involved. Others had taken them.
"As such, I want to focus my questions. I want to ask and I will continue to reveal throughout this series of campaigning.
"This is a sign that we should take over Kedah as the current administration is weak in terms of good governance," he added.
During his speech at the Jelajah Perpaduan Madani event in Gurun on Saturday, Saifuddin had claimed that Sanusi was slapped with a RM500,000 compound by the state Lands and Mines Office last year over the theft of rare earth minerals in Sik district in the latter's capacity as the MBI chairman.
In response, Sanusi said he had ordered his officers to lodge a police report against Saifuddin over allegations of his involvement in the theft of rare earth minerals.
Sanusi had also said that he was contemplating taking legal action against Saifuddin for the latter's remarks, which he described as "malicious and slanderous".
