KUANTAN: A section of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway (KLK) near Bentong has been closed to all vehicles after a sinkhole caused part of the dual-carriageway to collapse today.
Anih Bhd, the concessionaire of the KLK and the East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1), has advised all road users plying along the stretch to take a detour.
"All road users travelling to Kuala Lumpur from Kuantan are instructed to exit at the Bentong east exit (near the Benus industrial) and enter the Bentong west exit(near Bentong toll plaza).
"Motorists from Kuala Lumpur travelling towards Kuantan should exit the Bentong west exit(after Bentong toll plaza) and continue their journey towards the Bentong east exit," Anih Bhd wrote on Facebook.
It is learnt the road caved in at KM66.2 of the KLK towards Kuantan.
Social media has been abuzz after several motorists shared images of the sinkhole and reminding road users to avoid the stretch. It remains unclear what time and how the incident occurred.
When contacted, an Anih Bhd spokesman said they will be issuing an official statement on the incident soon.
