KUALA LUMPUR: A trailer, believed to be carrying oil, skidded and overturned at Kilometre 27.8 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak (KLK) Highway earlier today.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the driver of the tanker died in the incident.
"Work is currently underway to clear the affected lanes and remove the tanker.
"So far, one lane has been opened for traffic flow to resume," he said, adding that the Selangor Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department will release more information on the incident soon.
The Malaysian Highway Authority said in a social media post that the incident occurred at 5.25pm and caused the entire lane heading towards Kuala Lumpur to be blocked.
In another post at around 6pm, it said, there was traffic congestion from Genting Sempah to the Gombak Toll Plaza and from Bukit Tinggi to Genting Sempah due to the accident.
"Please maintain a safe distance between vehicles. Use alternative routes to Kuala Lumpur," it said.
