Malaysian Youth Council denies it is behind controversial SMS, vows to take action

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) today denies circulating a text message through mobile phone short messagig system (SMS) that Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor will not be retained as the Kedah Menteri should Perikatan Nasional (PN) win the election.

MYC president Mohd Izzat Afifi Abdul Hamid said the youth council would lodge a police report and take further action against parties abusing the council's name.

"We want to stress that the message blast does not involve us or any youth organisation affiliated with us.

"MYC strongly condemns irresponsible and harmful behaviour of any parties throughout the election campaign period. Political parties should avoid doing any campaign to divide the people's unity.

"On this note, we will take further action and lodge a police report soon to ensure our name is neither abused nor linked to any irresponsible situation," he said in a statement.

It has been reported that a text message said Sanusi would not be retained as Kedah menteri besar should Pas is given another mandate to administer the state.

The message used the council's name, and stated that the decision was made following Sanusi's controversial behaviour that smeared Pas' image.
